Participatory Python - Testing - RSVP opens at NOON TOMORROW (Thursday)

From: David C.

I've decided on the first topic for Participatory Python - Testing. Next up will be either numpy/scipy (if we have a special guest) or Machine Learning. I'm excited to see how this works out!

RSVPs will open at NOON TOMORROW (Thursday).

Here's how it works:
If you attend, you have to speak for 5 minutes on the chosen topic - show something you're written or used, talk about your experience, or bring whatever you can add to the discussion. After each presentation we have a (very) short period for questions. Then, for the second hour, the floor is opened up for open discussion, live demos and hacking, whatever.

The goal is to get together people who are using python in particular ways to connect, and thus build the sub-communities that I know exist here. Part of the point is to keep things small, to help people remember each other's names and make connections. Please only sign up if you're really excited about talking about this topic and want to present. The $5 will be used for food, and is also to encourage only people who are very interested to sign up.

This first one is going to be a bit of an experiment, so we'll see what works and what doesn't - more to come after this!

What I'v

Announcing a new Meetup for The New York Python Meetup Group!

What: Participatory Python - Testing

When: Tuesday, August 10,[masked]:00 PM

Price: $5.00 per person

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

10 people meet to give a short presentation and talk about a particular topic.

Everyone who attends has to talk for 5m or less. You don't have to be an expert, but you should be able to talk about your thoughts and experiences. Bonus points for showing a working demo or code, and for having questions that you'd like to see answered.

After we go around we'll open the discussion up and see whether there's more that people would like to talk about in the future, hacks that we can do right there, etc.

The first Participatory Python will be on testing.
