  • May 6, 2010 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Join us for another Ruby Mob Hack where we will show the results of our C Extension hack, and give donut a bit more functionality, a command , and valid tests. This Hack will build on our understanding of Ruby Composition, RubyGem packaging, Command line interfaces with Thor, and Bundler Dependency Management.

Although I am going to limit the initial RSVPs to 20 there is room for plenty more. Join the waiting list and your almost guaranteed a spot. See the new Ad-Hoc RSVP Policy

At our First MobHack we dove into Developing a C Extension of Ruby. We created Donut an extension allowing access to the wealth of geographically plotted demographic data in the New York City Data Mine. Giving Ruby the ability to read and write the SHP file format The source and other information on the resulting project can be found on the GitHub Repository. With the first extension build we can grab our datasets from the Geographic line of the datamine, specifically the Community Health Survey
