NYLUG Workshop / Hacking Society

  • Hudson Park Library

66 Leroy Street, New York, NY (map)

    40.729927 -74.005302

  • We meet in the basement. Enter the library and head to the back.
  • The coordinators will be teaching and showing off hardware hacking, simple DIY electronics projects, and programming tutorials. We will also help newcomers to Linux learn the ropes of getting around.

Bring something to discuss! We've been focusing on LaTeX, Python, Smalltalk, and using Linux, but were open to anything. There's a blackboard, chalk, and Internet access.  Notebook computers are helpful but not required. Bring books! Bring hardware! Bring software! Bring friends! All levels of experience from totally new to experienced welcome!

After workshops, the coordinators go out for dinner at Out of the Kitchen, located at 420 Hudson Street, just down the block from the library. Feel free to join us for some lively dinner conversations!

It is helpful, but not necessary to have a notebook computer. If you would like to work on hardware hacking or electronics, feel free to bring equipment. There's WiFi in the library for your convenience.

For me tonight will be a software only bash as nothing else wanted to travel, outside of the computer.

According to the site for the library, the branch is still posing as a building because there is no power. Now that has not been updated, even though there are announcements to the contrary.

According to the site they are indeed now open and posting a current (whatever that is) schedule. So no reason why we can't meet there tomorrow night as usual.

Ok it's definitely open, I'm there at the moment.

Up in the air. We'll need to contact the library to see what happens.

Hi everyone, how does it look like for next Tuesday?

    November 1, 2012

  • Robert M.

The November 6th Hack Workshop may be canceled, as November 6th is also Election Day. The library won't be open that day.

If someone else has some space that they can offer for that night, let us know.

Hi, I think I'll be there! I'd be happy to get introduced to Python. Do you guys have any good materials I could work on? I'll also try to think about some clever ideas. Otherwise I'd be happy to work and share on any topic you're up to :)

    See you soon!
