Why Linux?

Originally it was to develop in Ruby on Rails which was a summer project. You just can't get anything to work on windows. As I got more into it I could not live without it. I use a wide variety of opensource tools, R, C++, Java, Emacs, netbeans, Ruby, Rails and Open MPI. My current distro is Ubuntu[masked]

I am a PhD student in Criminal Justice at CUNY John Jay. I have only been using Linux for about 8 months and I would never go back.
