Scarlett Lewis

Author - Nurturing, Healing Love

In the wake of her son, Jesse's death in the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre on December 14, 2012, Scarlett went on an unexpected journey of hope and forgiveness. Inspired by a simple three-word message Jesse had written on their kitchen chalkboard shortly before he died, "Norurting Helinn Love" (Nurturing Healing Love), Scarlett found peace and began to understand that choosing love was the key to creating a healthy, safe, and happy world. She began the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Foundation to develop programs to teach children and adults about the power each of us has to change our thoughts and choose a life without fear and hate.

Scarlett will talk about forgiveness, gratitude and compassion in the face of personal tragedy. She will talk about choices and how we all have the power within us to determine out path. She will provide perspective for her audience and encourage them to make proactive changes in their thoughts that will positively influence their lives, the lives of those around them and through the ripple effect will make the world a better and more peaceful place.

Scarlett Lewis, mother of Jesse Lewis and founder of

She moved back to Connecticut to join OptiMark, a revolutionary start-up trading software company. Afterwards she joined a real estate company and got her real estate license.

When she became a parent for the first time, Scarlett wrote and published a children’s book, Rose’s Foal. Following Jesse's death, Scarlett wrote, "Nurturing Healing Love", a story about her journey about turning personal tragedy into something that can change the world.
