Just why does the sword wielding Sulu become Capt of the excalibur and the Russian guy become commander-in-chief of the federation? I mean they broke as many rules as anyone else!

I have no idea and have not read all the other Star Trek Book series.

Did you ever notice...

THat the number of 847 appears thought Star Trek shows from TNG - Voy.

I got into Trek because...

I am a second generation Trekker. I remember growing up and watching TOS on channel 11 in NY with my parents. Since then I have watched every Televised incarnation of Star Trek TV and the movie. As a life long fan of Star Trek I have express my enjoyment by participating in Fan organized clubs. I am a former member of Starfleet International where I was a chapter commander of the U.S.S. Iwo Jima that was located in Region 7. Recently our chapter decided to leave SFI and continue on as a non affiliated fan group. We now call our selves N.C.C. 74502 U.S.S. Iwo Jima, The Independent Star Trek Fan Group. I'm still the Commanding Officer and hold the rank of General in the Starfleet M.A.C.O.s.
