Details
In a fictional village in former Soviet territory far from any city, the villagers deal with primitive technology, peculiar sexist traditions, and an arid landscape. The sole source of water is a pipeline that leads from an underground river; it was installed by heroic men long ago. The current male residents are shiftless fellows who can’t be bothered to maintain the system (or do much work of any kind) as the flow gradually dwindles. When it stops completely, the local women decide that it’s time for them to take a stand: they demand that the men restore the supply and declare they’ll have nothing to do with the layabouts until the repairs are complete.
