Soberanes Canyon: The detailed write-up is from May 12, 2012 ; please read : http://www.meetup.com/oh-go-take-a-hike/events/63818142/ There should be colorful wildflowers, and if clear, beautiful views. This is one of the most difficult hikes for this group, with an approximately 7 mile loop, and 1800 feet of elevation gain. Depending upon which way we loop it is "shorter but very steep" or "longer and steep"....the trails are slippery with pebbles and ruts.
Trail Entrance: 7.1 Miles south of Carmel Valley Road on Highway 1 with parking on both sides of the highway.
Times: If you meet at entrance, please be there by 10:15. If you meet at the Nisene Parking, be there at 9:00 a.m.
Meeting/Parking/Car Pool: You can meet at the trail or we can car pool from the Nisene Marks Park entrance dirt parking lot. If you car pool please determine whether you are going for food after hike. Please indicate where you will meet.
