Through the eyes of a traditional Lakota Medicine Man, the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation becomes another world, the world behind this one.

Conversely the Omaha Premier of, “Antarctica-A Year on Ice” will feel much like a voyage to another planet.

Presented together, the Fundraising Event and the Feature Film become a journey of independent documentary filmmaking. The Omaha Premier of “Antarctica-A Year on Ice” will follow an introduction to the ongoing, Documentary in Progress; “Sidney Has No Horses-Oglala Lakota Medicine Man”. Captured over 12 seasons by a member of the Ice-Community and self-taught filmmaker Anthony Powell, the premier displays the heights that Independent Documentary Film can reach. And introducing the Lakota Project at a crucial point in its life cycle, five-years into interview and production, a very worthy new project is revealed to its supporters and future audience. The Fundraising Event is collaboration between the filmmakers for both films, Backwoods Outdoor Gear, Pilcher’s Indian Store, and Askarben Theatre. A Film Trailer, a short presentation, and Fundraising Raffle will precede the premier. It will be followed by a question and answer session led by Producer Brigitte Timmerman and the Director of Sidney Has No Horses Salvatore Consalvi, a 9-season veteran of The Ice. Please join us for a “Year on Ice”, Five-Years on the Pine Ridge, and a very lively discussion.
