If you are running late on Saturday and want to let me know, you can get me on 07854 212245.

13th October 2013

After the rain on the weekend of 12th and 13th October the route was a bit muddier and wetter. So recommend that you bring footwear to change into to do the walk that you don't mind getting muddy and wet. You can then change back out when we go into a cafe or pub afterwards. So suggest wellies, walking shoes or walking boots.

++++++++++++ Update ++++++++++++

Market Bosworth is a lovely, small market town. It is about 13 miles/30 minutes by car, west of the centre of Leicester. There is a bus stop in the Market Place. Market Bosworth has a good number of independent shops, eating places and two pubs. There is also an HSBC bank branch with cash machine!

The walk is circular starting in the Market Place. The route goes through Market Bosworth Country Park, which is just outside the centre of the town. The route is muddy in one or two short stretches and a is bit muddy in general after rain in other streches. So bring footwear to change into to do the walk that you don't mind getting muddy!

Park in the Market Place. There is lots of parking. However if you cannot find a place, there is a council car park, which is unfortunately not free. Also to get to the council car park you have to drive round most of the centre of Market Bosworth as there is a one-way system. But this is not too far as Market Bosworth town centre is small!

As mentioned above there is also a bus stop in the Market Place. However I don't know about frequency or routes.

Meet next to the war memorial in the Market Place. It is tall with a cross on top, with benches near by. It is also a few yards from the bus stop. You can't miss it.

The route I have worked out has two short stretches, about 250 metres and 75 metres, through a field where there are cows. The cows seem docile and used to people. However, I have an alternate route, that does not involve cows, which is just as interesting and possibly more rural than the one that involves cows.

How do people feel about cows? Please post messages and let me know. We can do either route.

Also if you like to feed the ducks, please bring bread :-). There are ducks on a pond in the country park and both routes go past the pond.

Hope to see you on 19th October!
