In celebration of African American National Parks Event, we will be retracing the trail the Buffalo Soldiers forged from the Presidio of San Francisco into Yosemite.
This will be an outdoors camping adventure. If you choose to join us, but prefer indoor lodging, you will need to make those arrangements. We have chartered buses that will take us from the Presidio to Yosemite. Space on the buses will be limited. Parking at the camp sites will be limited as well. The camping location is a 1 mile walk from Yosemite Lodge, near the "Swinging Bridge" area of the park.
The cost for this event will cover transportation to and from Yosemite, entrance fees and camping equipment for those who will need it. Meals will not be included. There is a food court and restaurant at Yosemite Lodge, which is a short distance from where we will camp out. Please bring a packed lunch for our stop in Los Banos.
We will stop in Los Banos to hear dedications to the Buffalo Soldiers. Once in Yosemite, we will set up camp and enjoy the park. Before departing Yosemite on Sunday, Ranger Shelton Johnson will perform his one man dedication honoring the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers. There are a few things you should remember to bring. The list will be expanded as the event draws near.
