Learn about drone imagery software -- Followup

Followup from last meeting.  Install instructions to follow shortly. This requires either previous class attendance, or full install. Hope to see you all there!

--Steve

...

Projects like Google Streetview, mapillary, PhotoSynth, and most small UAS (drone) postprocessing software, such as that offered by senseFly share a commonality-- they all use computer vision techniques to create spatial data from un-referenced photography.

OpenDroneMap is an open source project to unlock and make easy-to-use such computer vision techniques, so that whether from street level photos or from civilian drone imagery, the average user will be able to generate point clouds, 3D surfaces models, DEMs, and orthophotography from processing unreferenced photos.
The first step in ODM is to build the toolchain for processing data. Long term, the aim is to create an open repository for civilian drone and surface level data, in the spirit of OpenStreetMap.

I am extremely interested in this activity, but have had conflicts with both meetings. Please keep me on the list so I can meet up at a future meeting.

(I accidentally deleted steve's comment earlier! Here it is:) Looking forward to this follow-up. I hope to have plenty of local copies (jump drives) of the working image, so we should be good to go pretty quickly. If you haven't taken some photos for reconstruction, go take some. It'll be fun to process them.

    Best,
    Steve
