Interesting news for biohackers and biotechs here

Hi all,

Just wanted to pass along this weird piece in the news, where the agro-tech juggernaut Monsanto is attempting to sue a farmer who unknowingly purchased seeds that were contaminated by Monsanto-produced GMO seeds. It's gone all the way to the US Supreme Court for final judgment. Monsanto is trying to monetize and capture a new "market", of farmers who never intended to purchase their products, but instead are accidental "customers" due to seed drift.

For the biotech/biohacking community, a new opportunity is emerging: GMO-control. In this case desi gn a substance that can be used by farmers to prevent growth or kill off any Monsanto-created seeds on his fields, so a farmer can be assured that there is no lawsuit risk, and he can successfully sell his crops to much higher-margin organic/natural consumer segments. With the widespread contamination of crops by GMO seed drifts, it opens up all farmers to severe losses from patent infringement suits and being unable to access those lucrative organic food segments.

Cheers,

Michael
