planetarium job wants open-source NIGHTSHADE experience...

We all see the job listings on Dice where open source languages are more than keeping up with closed languages, as measured by number of jobs posted... But here is a sign of how far things have come.  Government and academic disciplines are seeing accelerated adoption as younger people, who grew up with FOSS as a fact of life, reach hiring positions... Also, it would be cool if somebody in or near the group got to run a planetarium. 8) John Fields _____ From: [address removed] [mailto:[address removed]] On Behalf Of Kyle Doane

Subject: [DOME-L:4662] Manage the Portable Universe   I want to let the community know of an amazing opportunity to build and manage a new planetarium outreach program in Dallas.  We are currently constructing the Perot Museum of Nature and Science which is scheduled to open in early 2013.  Instead of a fixed planetarium, we have chosen to have a small fleet of portable, digital planetaria which will be more flexible and likely serve more of the community than would be possible with a single fixed dome- at a fraction of the cost.   The museum is looking for a dynamic individual to build and manage this program.     The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of astronomy and a philosophy of presenting truly interactive, audience led programs.  Knowledge of the open-source planetarium program NIGHTSHADE would be valuable as we currently have a fleet of Digitarium projection systems.  Most valuable is passion and a strong vision of how this program will benefit the community.   The Following Opportunity is Posted at: Search Opportunities & Apply
