Talk (ca. 20 mins) Intro to Databases and SQL

Relational databases provide reliable and efficient data storage since several decades. Though NoSQL technologies are getting widely used in some applications recently and might be a great choice, having relational database management systems and SQL in the tool-box still remains a must for any senior developer, data engineer or data scientist. In this talk, I will start with the philosophical question how we transfer data to knowledge and give a short introduction or what relational and no-SQL databases actually are.

by Ilya Vladimirskiy - Ilya studied mathematics in Moscow, did computer science research in Marburg and worked as a database developer, data engineer, and consultant. He currently works as product owner at Smartfrog, an IoT startup based in Berlin. His previous experience includes fashion platform Zalando and match-making service eDarling.

A mini barcamp! (ca. 40 mins)

Anyone is invited to propose a topic they want to discuss or get help with and we organise ourselves into groups or pairs. At the end we share what we discussed.

Afterwards we usually continue our discussions with a drink in a nearby bar. Looking forward to see you!
