Welcome to the first publicly announced Introduction to Python workshop held by OpenTechSchool Jerusalem, which we offer to the Digital Humanities community and to related parties.
Python is a very popular, easy-to-learn and extremely powerful programming language with a wide array of potential uses and a huge collection of freely available code libraries for any task imaginable.
In this first workshop we'll assume no prior knowledge in Python (or in programming in general), and gently introduce you to Python programming.
So if you are interested in learning programming hands-on and with amazing (volunteer) coaches around, using the great workshop we've prepared for you, please sign up. And yes, it's free.
The workshop is self-learned from tutorials (http://learn.opentechschool.org/) with the assistance of many coaches that move among the learners.
You will need to bring your own laptop in order to participate with a recent python (2.7) installed. If you have a recent Mac or Linux, this is pre-installed, you are covered. If you are running Windows, please install from here (http://python.org/ftp/python/2.7.6/python-2.7.6.msi), or let the organizers know in advance so they can help you set it up.
Because the number of seats is limited, it is important that you only sign up if you definitely plan on coming (and do so, too!). If you can't make it for any reason, please cancel your attendance on Meetup right away so your someone on the waiting list can take your place. Thanks!
