We have been approached by the local administration (eZurich, Wirtschaftsförderung Zürich) and Startup@UZH to give workshops to local high school classes. Google (http://www.google.com/about/jobs/locations/zurich/) offered to host us and we already have candidate classes from Kantonsschule RG and Enge.
Please do not sign up for this event if you're not coaching.
We already have a pre-allocated class of kids.
Additional workshops open for everybody will follow at a later point in time.
This is a pilot project to see how we can hook best into K-12 education and runs in parallel to our longer term, ongoing efforts in Berlin (http://itlabsberlin.de). We're currently looking into our Python for beginners (http://opentechschool.github.io/python-beginners/) material, Scratch curricula, eToys/Makey Makey (https://github.com/niccokunzmann/spiele-mit-kindern), Processing, Blender (http://pymove3d.sudile.com/), and different hackathon (https://github.com/niccokunzmann/kids-hackathon) formats.
The students are going to be in Sekundarstufe II, ie. aged 16+. Lunch is generously sponsored by Google; the event features an office tour.
Disclaimer: Education for kids is different from normal workshops. While we highly encourage everyone to join in on the fun — and it isgoing to be great fun — that kind of teaching is not for everyone.
