I joined the group in order to network and to find like minded friends who enjoy art like I do. Being a single parent with 4 kids one does not get out much!! I also have an 18 year old daughter who is pursuing an art career and thought it would be a great opportunity for her to rub shoulders with other professionals and veterans in the art business.
I restore all types of mediums including: watercolors, acrylic and oil paintings. I also restore chalks, pastels and charcoal drawings in addition to etchings, block-prints, documents and photographs. I also delve into some metal works and porcelain along with fabric textiles. However the bulk of my work is restoring mostly oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings. Being that the bulk of my time is spent in restoration of other peoples works and also being a single parent mom there is not much time for my own creativity. However when I do get the opportunity I tend to do mixed media paintings and sculptures as a relaxing hobby. I also professionally have been hired for several events both weddings and fundraisers to do the decor for these venues.
I have had 8 years of Advanced oil painting in various colleges. I have been certified by The Academy of Professional Art Conservation and Science in California in Museum level Art Restoration. For 21 years I have been restoring the private collections of Gilbert Llyod (of Lloyds of London) and other various private collections in various Banks and Insurance Companies in Nassau, Bahamas. Prior to my Art Restoration career I designed and built stage sets for various plays while still in high school and also later in college for the drama departments. I also have experience in parade float design and have won numerous competitions in hometown celebrations in this field. In 1983 my photography was displayed at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington D.C. during a National competition Sponsored by Kodak.
I am Sharon Terhune (Aitken) I am a single parent with 4 children. I am a Professional Art Restoration and Conservation Specialist who has been restoring Art at the museum level for over 22 years. I currently live in Mount Dora, Florida.
