What we're about

We are a group of “green energy enthusiasts and influencer's” in Oshawa/Durham Region who are working together to create a more sustainable future by engaging people who are passionate about Renewable Energy. We would like to bring the local green community together to network, educate and promote awareness of green technology/solutions. We are doing this by organizing/supporting Green Events in the Durham Region. Our upcoming events will include Green Drinks Oshawa and Green Energy Door Open (GEDO).

We are interested in sharing the latest information about Renewable Energy. Whether you are interested in knowing more about renewable energy sources, looking to pursue a career in renewable energy or if you share our passion we would like to meet you!!

Green Drinks Oshawa (Durham Region)

Green Drinks is an open invitation to anyone studying, working on, or just interested in all things green (energy, renewable energy, environment). Come and join us for interesting, and inspiring conversation. This is an informal, self-organizing network and meets on the Second Wednesday of every month.

Green Energy Door Open (GEDO)

This event is an initiative of the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (OSEA) and we are supporting them in this activity. We are connecting with businesses, not-for-profit organizations and educational institutions in the green-energy space. We are organizing a strong regional presence for “Green Energy Doors Open” (GEDO) on September 9-10-11, 2016. Last year, approx. 150 locations participated across the Ontario-Alberta-Quebec with 5,000 attendees. We are looking to engage locations to “open up” and showcase what they are doing with respect to green energy (be a “host site”). If you are interested in participating in this event either as a host site or as a volunteer please send us an email at info@sndi.ca

Green Drinks Durham: Waste Minimization to Protect Lake Ontario

SmartNet Developments Head Office

Join Green Drinks Durham on Thursday January 31st as we welcome Rochelle Byrne from A Greener Future to talk about the work they are doing with local communities to promote environmental preservation through organized litter cleanups, educational programs, and events. https://www.agreenerfuture.ca/ Over the past four years, with the help of thousands of volunteers, over 1 million pieces of litter have been picked up, entered into A Greener Future's data system, and disposed of properly. This includes returning beer and liquor containers to The Beer Store, composting paper, and recycling everything from cans to textiles and cigarette butts. This helps ensure that a minimal amount of waste is going to the landfill. Join Rochelle on January 31st at Green Drinks Durham as she discusses which items are having the biggest negative impact on the health of Lake Ontario and what we can all do to help protect the Lake from pollution. About the Speaker: Rochelle Byrne, Executive Director & Founder of “A Greener Future” Rochelle is an environmental graduate with a passion for improving the local environment. In 2014 she founded the nonprofit, A Greener Future, which focuses on litter cleanup and prevention. She is the 2016 recipient of the City of Pickering Environment Award and an active ambassador for the zero waste movement. This Green Drinks will be hosted by SmartNet Developments in their brand new training space. Come to see the new offices and network with fellow Durham region environmentalists and green enthusiasts.
