Hey folks,

For anyone whose not on the talk-us or the us-imports lists, I'm trying
to do some cleanup of bad imports in NYC.

One group of bad data in NYC are the hamlets- small places which have
been placed in the database from the TIGER import but rise to the
classification of a place (and certainly aren't a hamlet).

For some of these places, we can just go ahead and fix them if they're
something like an apartment building. But then we have the case of the

The boroghs are in OSM several times over- sometimes as hamlets, as
suburbs, as boundries, as nodes... It's a mess.

Long term (years from now), I'd love to see all these political
boundries out of OSM, but in the meantime, I think we can still improve
the current situation. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to take this
on as a community?
