Join the members of Our Task for a gentle paddle and exploration of our local tidal freshwater marsh at Pohick Bay, located about 40 minutes south of Arlington, VA. The scenery is breathtaking and the wealth and diversity of wildlife in the area will make this trip a rewarding and educational experience. Sightings of eagles, osprey and aquatic birds abound! Several beaver lodges dot the marsh, making interesting stops along the way.
No canoeing experience is necessary for this adventure. A quick tutorial will be provided before the group departs and assistance will be given as needed along the way.
So, if you're around the age of 18-30 (or somewhere close) let's enjoy an afternoon on the water exploring, directly interacting with Earth, and hanging out with new and old friends!
Please bring a bag lunch, water bottle and protection from the sun (hat, sunscreen, etc.). Binoculars, cameras, etc. are optional. Please wear shoes that may get wet, or appropriate water shoes (no flip flops).
We will meet at the boat launch at Pohick Bay Regional Park. **A $15 canoe trip fee per person applies; this is 50% of regular price extended only to OurT ask for this trip. Max of 18 people permitted, so please RSVP.
Please inform park gatehouse entrance attendant that you will be attending a scheduled paddle tour to avoid park entrance fee.
**In case of inclement weather, rain date will be Sunday, June 23 (same time).
