What we’re about
Outbound Trips from Luxembourg is a group of adventurous travelers who are willing to explore and discover a wide array of destinations, ranging from neighboring countries to more exotic or remote places.
Examples of destinations that can be proposed are the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, Finland, Norway or Portugal just to name a few.
The number of participants for each outbound trip from Luxembourg should be limited to a maximum of 20 people at a time to ensure a smooth organization. Efforts will be made to balance the group of travel mates in terms of age and language practice where possible.
If we embrace the idea of a road trip, the meeting will take place in the city center of Luxembourg. Once there, the car owners can offer a free ride or share the travel costs with the passengers at their own leisure.
Conversely, if we go for an international flight and embrace the idea of a short stay abroad, we can book the return tickets in advance, meet up at the airport of Luxembourg-Findel and leave all together.
Concerning the accommodation, it should be booked in a way that accommodates the participants' wishes individually without jeopardizing the overall organization or the pleasure of sharing agreeable moments with your travel mates.
Residents and non-residents are all more than welcome!
So the rules are simple: spread your positive energy around you and for the more seasoned travelers, don't forget to share your tips!

See all- 🏝️ Gran Canaria leisure + hike 🏝️Maspalomas, Maspalomas
The canaries 🏖️ themselves are considered descendants of the Guanches and are pleased to say that the islands are remnants of the legendary Atlantis, which did not sink because the best people lived here.
For those who never been to the canaries starting off with Gran Canaria is just the best choice because the island have it all mountains with ever lasting 🌲 forests and long sand beaches till the eyes can see 🌴.
You will have the best guide as I been on almost every island from the canarias many times, this April I go again to celebrate my birthday at Easter. The island has a pleasant climate all year around, April is a good time to go to avoid the crowded tourist season while the sea water 🌊 is already quite enjoyable. You will save 1 day as well as April 21 is a public holiday. The date is exact and won't change (you can come for as many days you wish but there are only 3 direct flights from LUX per week, coming for a shorter time period might won't make sense).
This trip unlike other hikes is mostly going to be leisure with 2 hikes planned overall. Hiking is not mandatory 😃 you can just skip those days and chill at the beach or go for a catamaran trip 🚤
We are going to avoid the busy capital and stay on the best place in the island: Maspalomas which also features a 5 sqkm mini desert 🏜️. This magical place will give you back the feeling of the Sahara with the beach just nearby.
You can check the local attractions here. For first timers it's highly recommended that you spend a day at the nearby Palmitos Park where the animals and birds freely roam and you can enjoy Dolphin and other bird shows during the afternoon. Next to the water activities there are many bookable fully organized daytrips around the island.
The hikes
Hike 1 : Ayacata - Pico de las Nieves
Hike 2 : White Mountain - Mount Teide (route not decided yet)The first hike is accessible with a local bus from Maspalomas. For the second one we are going to take the ferry early in the morning from Agaete to Tenerife, Santa Cruz. The logistics of this still has to be worked on, the easiest would be to rent a car of go with cab even if it's expensive, the local bus network is far from good on the island. The car can be taken over as well with the ferry from the capital it's about 63km more drive to the Teide National Park. Some of the Teide trails require a permit (as this is a protected area), unfortunately even now in January all the permits for this week in April are already gone. We can look for a trail instead which does not require it and go up to the Teide with the cable car at the end.
How to get there:
✈️ LG-703 LUX 13:15 -> LPA 16:45
✈️ LG-704 LPA 17:35 -> LUX 22:50Fortunately there is a direct flight from Luxembourg, unfortunately it was already expensive booking it in last year as well 😁
Where to stay:
We are staying at Maspalomas. I can give hotel recommendations but it is advised that you book a hotel close to the golf field in the middle of the map. Airbnbs are not particularly cheap so I would recommend a hotel to stay at. Playa del Ingles might have a lot of cheaper accommodation however it's not nice, not close to the center and very crowded, it is not recommended to stay there.
PS: the hotel prices already went up, I got mine last year and have 2 more reservation for about 660EUR/week what I can give away for last time joiners. Please be advised that reserving a hotel right now even if you will not come is highly recommended (most of them have free cancellation) because the price will easily double plus most of them will sell out by April.
Telegram Group for the event is already open, joining the tg channel for participants is mandatory for easy communication.
There is no upper cap or RSVP limit for this event. The event will be kept regardless of how many comes. Everybody is responsible for taking care of her/his own transportation/hotel and last but not least everybody is coming for their own responsibility.
See you in April 😎🌞🚤
- 🇦🇹 Salzkammergut Lakes & Dachstein-Glacier 🇦🇹Salzburg Airport, Salzburg
In Austria, the mountains 🏔️ are calling and we must go.
After the success of our last year Switzerland and Black Forest hikes we are following the yearly tradition with exploring the most beautiful regions of Europe. This May we will visit the breath taking Salzkammergut region.
Please read the whole description before signing up for this event!
During the panorama hiking tour from North to South you experience the most beautiful facets of the Salzkammergut-region: Starting from the gentle hills on Lake Traunsee all the way into the mountain region of the Dachstein-glacier, this hiking tour leads you from the ‚outer‘ into the ‚inner´ Salzkammergut. You proceed via high-altitude paths and rugged peaks onto the high-plateau of the Höllengebirge-mountain range and onwards into the imperial town Bad Ischl. Then along the tracks of Empress Sissi to the turquoise-blue Lake Wolfgangsee and up to the Postalm, Austria’s largest alpine pasture area. Finally once again alpine flair awaits when crossing the ravine ‚Gosaukamm‘ – with the impressive Dachstein-glacier always in broad view.
Find the detailed itinerary and booking link here.
Exact date for the trip: 24 May 2025 - 31 May 2025
- 24 May 2025 (Saturday) Traunsee (Arrival on your own)
- 25 May 2025 (Sunday) Traunsee
- 26 May 2025 (Monday) Traunsee - Bad Ischl
- 27 May 2025 (Tuesday) Bad Ischl - Wolfgangsee
- 28 May 2025 (Wednesday) Wolfgangsee - Postalm
- 29 May 2025 (Thursday) Postalm - Gosau
- 30 May 2025 (Friday) Gosau
- 31 May 2025 (Saturday) Departure on your own
This is an organized trip by a highly reputable company I already used. These trips are self-guided, aka you will never meet with them, they do all the reservations for you, a custom phone app will be provided which not just contains the trails but point of interest along the way.
They offer a lot of trails even in this region, I have picked the cheapest one which is moderate (daily 12km avg) to accommodate causal hikers as well. Those of us who are up for additional challenges there will be plenty of extra trails what we can do on our own in this region, eg.: the group can split up, some of us do a hard trail the rest sticks with the normal.
The package is reasonably priced, all the hotels along the way are included. This is not a circular hike but a point A to B trail, the company will take care of your luggage transfers (you can bring a suitcase up to 20kg) all you need to do is show up at the first hotel and hike every day, the hotels are in general ⭐⭐⭐ stars with breakfast always included. This is the best way to experience nature's tranquility 🌲 far away from the busy cities, no need to spend 2-3 hours or more on traveling to the starting point of a hike and going back at the end of the day, we wake up, have a breakfast and go.
How to get there: the only good option is flying, there is a night train from Koblenz which cost you more than the flight, Flixbus only there and takes 12 hours or drive down there which can be around 8 hours. With this connecting flight through Frankfurt you will be there in 3h45:
✈️ Luxembourg to Salzburg 14:30 LUX -> 18:15 SZG (LH 5643)
✈️ Salzburg to Luxembourg 10:30 SZG ->13:50 LUX (LH 1103)Everything is detailed on their webpage, therefore I will not make another one for this, Telegram group for the event is already open. After you submit your booking to Eurohike it can take up to 1 week until they process it. Do not book any train/plane tickets before they confirm your reservation. When booking in the description just enter: Peter's group and chose the digital map only, there is a small discount for those who book until the end of February. They will try to put us into the same hotels or hotels nearby.
I have created a carpool group for the intent as well. The rest of us who ✈️ there depending on the group size we can just book a minibus transfer in advance to the start/from the end destinations and split the cost.
I have posted this event already because currently (January) the plane ticket is still affordable so those who are committed to come are better making arrangements as soon as possible. You can expect the price of ticket to 5x and although the trail package will not increase in price (it's fix price per season, May being the cheapest) they already told me that they are getting full as many hikers booked this trail last year in advance. RSVP stays open until they still have capacity to accommodate people. This is not a first come first served event, it is a late come not served 😅. I can help carrying hiking sticks in my checked in bag (as they are not allowed in carry on bags) so you can get away with the cheapest light 8kg carry on bag if you wish. Everybody is coming for their own responsibility.
Please only RSVP for the hike if you already signed up with them and your booking is confirmed for the hike and 100% that you will participate.
See you in May. 🧀 🚶♀️🚶♂️🥾
