This is a fabulous tough hike for all these experienced hikers looking for a challenge. The hike is hilly and difficult and is not suitable for beginners.
This is a linear hike incorporating two of our favourite hikes: Merstham to Box Hill and Box Hill Circular. If we finish early enough, we will visit the famous Stepping Stones (image below) before heading to the pub.
There are several beautiful hills on this hike, be prepared.
Box Hill lies within the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and forms part of the Mole Gap to Reigate Escarpment Site of Special Scientific Interest. The hills were used for the Olympics 'Tour de Boxhill' cycling.
It is a challenging hike. Total distance is about 17 miles and we are looking to maintain an average pace of 5.5 km per hour. There is endless amount of hills along the route. Not suitable for beginners or less experienced hikers.
Beginners, please look for the hikes marked as "moderate pace".
We will treat ourselves to a well deserved drink at The Stepping Stones pub in Box Hill after the hike. They have a truly delicious menu and a lovely garden. Please bring packed lunch for the lunch stop.
Please do come fully equipped: hiking boots, warm layers, head TORCH and waterproofs. No jeans! Do carry enough water, lunch and some snacks for the way.

A note about the Outdoor Adventure Club:
The OAC is a 'not for profit' organisation under the supervision of the government appointed CIC Regulator. It is run entirely for the benefit for its members and organisers receive no financial gain for the time and skills they volunteer.
A contribution of £5 is requested for this walk because currently we need to raise money so we can develop a fund to pay for training and provide basic equipment for a leadership team. This team will need first aid skills and proper navigation training which is quite costly. On top of this we need to pay for insurance and accountancy fees. It all adds up and your contribution is greatly appreciated. However if you are unemployed or facing financial hardship please let us know and we are happy for you to join the walk without making any financial contribution.
Refunds are not offered for this Meetup.
