Welcome to Over 30s Social Group Leeds and Bradford.
Historically the group was set up aimed at the over 35's age group and this theme has continued ever since however there are no enforced restrictions on the age of people who join. It simply provides a place where people of a more mature age can feel comfortable in social events.
What are the group plans:
Regular meet ups for meals, social nights out, cinema, theatre, tribute nights, days out, pub quizzes, bowling, comedy nights. A bit of adventure, short walks, kids allowed days, short breaks and weekends away, new members meet up nights are also planned. If there is something you want to see on the group please add it on your profile page when signing up to the group.
What makes us different from other groups?
Well, join us and decide for yourself!!!
The site is set so that all members are able to suggest events and it would be great to see everyone participating and therefore achieving what you, our members, would like to do with your group. The group is run by Leeds based members but it is not exclusive to events in Leeds - they can be wherever you want them to be!!! We are now offering regular events in the surrounding areas or Leeds and Bradford city centres.
It is free to join and we do not charge to attend an event. The only time we will ask for payment is if we have had to pay for something up front or if the event involves a payment of some kind for example our weekend away in Whitby, where payment to the hostel and a share of petrol was necessary.
If you wish to pay a nominal sum on an event, this money will either be going towards Michelles fundraising for Marie Curie, as she is due to walk/climb up Kilimanjaro in 2017 or towards the Meetup costs that Michelle pays each 6 months to keep the group going.
All and any monies received will be documented and evidence of this will be available upon request.
You signed up for a reason - to meet and socialise with new people and make new friends. All we ask when signing up for the group is that you attend at least one event as soon as you possibly can when you have signed up - or at least attend the new members meet up night (we plan to run these every 3 months) where all people are "first timers" to the group on that night.
Organisers will usually post their mobile number on events. If they do this, please only contact them about that event. Some organisers have been contacted out of context by members and this can be very off putting. If you want to contact an organiser about anything, please use the messaging facility provided by meetup.
As we are a large group, we understand that not everyone will get on. If you have any issues with the conduct of other members please do not hesitate to contact an organiser. I firmly believe that we are all adults and therefore should treat each other with the same amount of respect we wish to receive.
