The NC Department of Justice is seeking a Business & Application Enterprise Software Developer to assist the Training & Standards (T&S) Team in supporting both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom-developed T&S applications, including the Training Records and Certification [for] T&S (TRACS T&S) software. The team comprises of a business analyst, .Net developer, and a Software Quality Assurance (SQA) specialist. The team also has a database administrator (DBA) as an extended team member. The candidate will be:
• Predominantly providing architecture, design, development, and maintenance support for the T&S applications and interfaces (e.g. web services) to T&S custom and vendor-based solutions. These include actively participating in the analysis, design, coding, unit testing, implementation, and maintenance of complex applications using a broad range of analytical and programming knowledge and/or tools. The technologies used to develop and support these systems include, but are not limited to, C#, .NET, ASP.NET, and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Working closely with the T&S Team members and the customer.
• Assisting other IT Division teams in supporting other software applications as requested.
• Reporting to the T&S Service Owner/Manager within the IT Division.

The candidate may also be providing after hour and weekend/holiday support for production releases and incident management on an as-needed basis.

The T&S team’s customer is the Law Enforcement Training and Standards Division, which comprises of the NC Justice Academy, Private Protective Services/Alarm Systems Licensing, Criminal Justice Standards, and Sheriff Standards.

DOJ has a competency-based recruitment program. This position is posted at a Contributing level, equivalent to pay grade 78, and is open to internal and external candidates.
