New organisers wanted!/Let's get organised and see some films soon!

**nb we are NOT meeting up on Monday Aug 5 - I just put that in to get the Announcement out, and, having done it, have no clue how to take the time off it! We are delighted with the enthusiastic responses to the message, by the way!**

Hi Oxford Movie Fans. This isn't a MeetUp itself, but a plea for us together to try to rejuvenate the group, which used to be very active, but has been much less so, lately, partly because the organisers, who have done this job for a long time, have changing commitments and would really welcome and value more people in the group getting involved in organising. Its not really that onerous, and if we got, say, 8-10 people interested in sometimes organising something, it could be a once in 6 months commitment only! All you need to do is ask Richard, the group organiser (he appears in the photo in the left hand panel), his name is first in the list of organisers, to put you on the list of assistant organizers. Then you use the website to schedule a MeetUp, print off and take a MeetUp sign with you, and then its really up to all the rest of us to come along, chat, have a good time - there's no onerous duties on the organiser beyond the logistics of setting it up on the website. I'm a bit busy this week (starting Monday 29 July) but next week, starting Aug 5, I'll have a look at what films are on and will try to organise a MeetUp. A lot of folks are away from Oxford in August, but it would be good if we could get more interest in widening the organising circle of the group in the next month or two, then from Sept/Oct really try to re-start things and have regular films. I've met so many interesting and friendly people through the group, so I think we all owe it to ourselves to get things started again!

    Thanks once again to everyone who has posted on here and expressed an interest in helping out. It is really good to see the level of interest and such a positive responses. I'll also be in touch with everyone who has contacted me directly about helping very soon and to get those who want to be set up as assistant organisers set up on the site.

      Hi Michelle, just to clarify, this isn't an actual meeting or MeetUp as yet - I had to put in something to get an announcement on the site in this particular way. The idea is to stimulate an emailed/message debate to drum up new interest in the film group, and in more people being willing to organise the occasional film and become assistant organisers. So we are not meeting on Monday, we are just moving forward with attracting broader interest in the group. I am optimistic, though, that films and MeetUps will start appearing on the site very soon. If you are interested in joining us as assistant organiser (I am one too) then please contact Richard, the overall organiser, who has posted a message below.

    Hi, thanks to everyone who has responded to Julie's message and contacted me. I have been quite tied up with work commitments and away quite a bit recently so have not been able to be as active in the group as I'd like to have been recently. However this is a great group full of really good people which I am really keen to see stay active and vibrant and so I am very appreciative of all the offers of help.

    If you have sent me an email or message about being an assistant organizer I'll be in touch very soon about getting you set up. We used to meet at least weekly so it would be great to see if we can regain that level of activity.

    Great! Could anyone happy to be assistant organizer please click on "Richard" - the first name - in the panel on the left headed "Organizers", and then click "send email" once Richard's page comes up (the button is just under his name and title as organiser). He can fill you in on the details and put you on the Assistant Organizers list! Frances - yes, but I'm afraid I'm a bit busy this week....but please feel free to post those films up as a suggestion - there is a button on the home page of the group to do this I think, as I am sure others will be interested and able to go!

    PS PLEASE NOTE, I am NOT suggesting we MeetUp at the Phoenix on Monday Aug 5 (unless I can find a good film by then and then I will try to schedule something. I had to put something in to get the message up on the site. Its just a general plea to us all to try to get the film group back on track, but to do that, we do need more assistant organisers (and perhaps even a main organiser, if someone were willing to do that....? - ask Richard about this) - if we have a group of us it WONT be that onerous on any individual - just suggest and schedule a MeetUp say once every few months.
