You know they know I know

Dear all,

After a long running dispute between some group organisers (including myself) and Meetup concerning personal profile information appearing on RSVP pages, we've had the definitive statement from Meetup below:

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to share your feedback about this feature so extensively and thoughtfully. We know this is a controvertial change, and we're listening to your concerns carefully. Our product team will take everything you've said into consideration going forward, however at this time we're moving forward with these changes to the Meetup event page experience. We know this will change how you use these tools, and we're watching that carefully as well.

Our goal is to make it easier to get to know members better before you Meetup. And one of the ways we can do that is to surface more information about members via one of the most visited pages on the platform: The Meetup event page.

Again, we know this is controversial, but we are committed to making your upcoming event pages a great experience for members. It's our experience so far that moving RSVP comments and adding introductions is not reducing the amount of people RSVPing for your Meetups and connecting beforehand; it's increasing those connections.

With that, again, please know that we've read and understand your concerns. We're closing this thread. You're welcome to continue to add feedback to relevant threads on Uservoice as well.

As usual, Meetup does what it wants, so if you don't wish profile information included with each RSVP, just delete your intros, or alternatively, update them.

See you soon,
