Our emphasis is on photography in the field and in the studio, as well as photo finishing, education and networking.

We offer our members a wide range of photography related events including several monthly photo shoots at various locations, seminars, classes, educational shoots and networking opportunities with other photographers.

Salton Sea Exploration

Salton Sea State Recreation Area

Photo: Bombay Beach airplane tail. Not mine, but an example of interesting subjects we might find. The Salton Sea was created by accidental flooding from Colorado River water in 1905. The extreme salt levels create a unique marine ecosystem that many birds feed on. We start in a state park in northeast corner of the sea to photograph the white "sand" beach, distant mountains, blue water and birds. We continue south on Grapefruit Blvd to Bombay Beach where there are leftover art projects (see photo above), ruins, "marina", and the Ski Inn. Next up is Salvation Mountain/Slab City. Lots of funky desert images to get get, limited only to your imagination (plus you can donate your old, used paint.) My #: No guarantee of coverage out there,[masked]. I expect to spend 1 - 1.5 hrs at the first stop. Bring: Sunscreen/hat, desert shoes, wide to tele for the birds, and macro for the white "sand". Snacks and lunch (or we can eat at the Ski Inn.)
