Come join us on January 13 for a Night Shoot at San Diego State University. The tour will include opportunities to photograph the new Aztec Center, Pedestrian Bridge, Stone Monuments, Performing Arts Plaza, The Love Library, Hardy Memorial Tower, Heppner Hall, and some of the new buildings on the west side of campus, etc. This tour is perfect for those looking to learn more about architectural night photography and experiment with different techniques. Included in the tour will be a brief historical background on each of the subject areas. We will meet in front of the KPBS Building at 4:30PM and walk through campus and begin by shooting the sunset. The tour/shoot will likely last about 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
Sunset - 5:00PM
End Civil Twilight - 5:27PM
End Nautical Twilight - 5:57PM
Here is the link to the SDSU parking information: Parking Info. (http://police.sdsu.edu/dps/parking_information.aspx), however, I recommend parking in the residential area off Montezuma and College Place or Rockford Drive and walk to campus. NOTE: Most meters will require payment until 6:00PM, but please check the signs, SDSU parking enforcement is tough. Options for arriving include carpooling which is suggested and trolley.
Here is a campus map for your orientation: SDSU Map (http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6907790)
Gear: I suggest a wide angle lens if you want to photograph entire buildings, or a medium lens for more detailed architectural images. I will give instructions to those who are interested on the use of wide angle lenses to compose and photograph architecture. There will also be some guidance on time exposures. You must have a tripod to do this shoot and bring a remote shutter release if you have one.
Any questions, email me on my profile. If you don't know the campus well, it's best to familiarize yourself with the map!
