Details

Join us for a photo shoot at Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside. The Mission community will be holding their annual Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) festival including mariachi bands, a variety of dancing groups, Aztec entertainers, elaborate altars, a Katrina contest, and more! There will be many photo ops in addition to the Mission and gardens! The festival is open from 10am until 4pm.

We will meet just before the opening of the event in order to avoid traffic and to secure parking. There is a $2 admission to the Festival, and tickets can be purchased online in advance. (The $2 admission fee is to control the size of the crowd, there is no guarantee of a ticket if you wait until the day of the event!) Parking is free at the mission, and there is also free parking available at nearby El Camino High School with a shuttle to the Mission starting at 10am. (The small VIP parking lot directly in front of the Mission is $10, cash only.)

For more information about the festival and to purchase tickets, visit https://www.mslrdiadelosmuertos.com/

We will meet at the fountain in front of the mission at 9:45 for our group photo, then head off to photograph the event. Please note that the festival tends to be extremely crowded. Be aware of your surroundings and don't loose track of your equipment! Zoom lenses would be a great idea to capture the festivities.
