Needs a location
TSRA will be doing another Access Build on Mill Creek!
This access is about a mile upstream from where Mill Creek enters the Cumberland River. Fortunately, this section of the creek always has water. It is important as it will provide another access for trips to and from Shelby Bottoms. There are many times when the downtown access by the stadium is closed for events and paddlers in the downtown area are limited in where they can paddle.
We are fortunate that the Wesnofske family is allowing us to build on their land at the north east corner of Lebanon Pike and Mill Creek. This will be open to the public for access. Thanks also to REI for their grant to help make this happen.
This build will be a big one! From the parking area there are 2 hills for steps and a straight path between the hills. We will be needing lots of volunteers!
Our plan is to start the build on Friday November 2nd and continue through the weekend on the 3rd and 4th. Most likely this will be a 2 weekend build so we will resume on Friday the 9th, 10th and 11th. Our plan is to work from 8 am 5pm. If you have any time to come out for a few hours it would be most appreciated. This build will be an asset for paddlers in Middle TN. Please consider giving your time to make another access for you and your paddling friends.
For more information call Patty Shultz at[masked] or email at [masked] (no “c” in Shultz). It is most helpful if I have a general idea of when you plan to come out – date as well as morning or afternoon. All skill levels needed. Call your paddling friends and make an outing of it. Actually it is fun. Thanks!
