• TSRA Mill Creek Access Build
TSRA will be doing another Access Build on Mill Creek! This access is about a mile upstream from where Mill Creek enters the Cumberland River. Fortunately, this section of the creek always has water. It is important as it will provide another access for trips to and from Shelby Bottoms. There are many times when the downtown access by the stadium is closed for events and paddlers in the downtown area are limited in where they can paddle. We are fortunate that the Wesnofske family is allowing us to build on their land at the north east corner of Lebanon Pike and Mill Creek. This will be open to the public for access. Thanks also to REI for their grant to help make this happen. This build will be a big one! From the parking area there are 2 hills for steps and a straight path between the hills. We will be needing lots of volunteers! Our plan is to start the build on Friday November 2nd and continue through the weekend on the 3rd and 4th. Most likely this will be a 2 weekend build so we will resume on Friday the 9th, 10th and 11th. Our plan is to work from 8 am 5pm. If you have any time to come out for a few hours it would be most appreciated. This build will be an asset for paddlers in Middle TN. Please consider giving your time to make another access for you and your paddling friends. For more information call Patty Shultz at[masked] or email at [masked] (no “c” in Shultz). It is most helpful if I have a general idea of when you plan to come out – date as well as morning or afternoon. All skill levels needed. Call your paddling friends and make an outing of it. Actually it is fun. Thanks! Location Lebanon Pike and Donelson Hills Dr. From Lebanon Pike turn north onto Donelson Hills Drive and immediately turn left toward the creek. Access Build onto Mill Creek at Lebanon Pike From Nashville head east on I-40E Go North on Briley Parkway /TN155N Take Exit 8 from Briley Pkwy/TN155N, a left turn onto US-70 W/Lebanon Pike Continue on US-70/Lebanon Pike for 0.8mile to Donelson Hills Drive Turn Right onto Donelson Hills Drive and make an immediate left into construction area. Parking will be identified here.

  • Camp, Paddle, Jam a Weekend at Bledsoe Creek State Park
Ready to begin making your paddling plans for October 2018? Well, here you go... We had a great time camping and paddling at Bledsoe Creek State Park this weekend. I again scored the same 2 waterfront sites for October 19 & 20, 2018. Come on out and join us for some fall camping at Bledsoe Creek - a local jewel! You can camp either or both Friday and Saturday night. I'll watch the forecast and determine our Saturday and Sunday paddle plans accordingly. We'll have options of several beautiful round trip lake paddles, or we may do a stretch of the Cumberland river. We may even sneak a moonlight or sunrise paddle in there. We'll be within a short paddle or drive of the restaurant and bar at Shady Cove Marina. Bring your instruments for a campfire jam - always one of my favorites. Singers encouraged! I've reserved campsites 53 & 54 ON THE LAKE SHORE***! - At the time I made my reservation, there were many nearby sites available. Each site can accommodate up to 4 tents and 8 people, and all have water and electric hookups. ***Everyone needs to make their own camping reservations*** (As we discussed, Martha Lisle, Chris, Jessie, Kelsey, Maura, Vinnie, and Water Lilly - I've got you covered under our site reservation) See you there! You are required to register to reserve a kayak, please register below. https://crc.kindful.com/register/vol-10122018 Join the Cumberland River Compact, Cumberland Kayak Urban Adventure Co, and Turnip Green Creative Reuse for a fun waterway cleanup! Each time it rains, trash is washed into our waterways, disrupting stream life and its natural beauty. We need your help to clean up the water for both paddlers and wildlife alike! Kayaks, sun screen, life jackets, gloves, grabbers, and trash bags will be provided. Be sure to bring water and a snack; we will have a water station set up at our take out point, but you are responsible for bringing water while paddling! We will raffle off a gift card and T-Shirts after the event! See registration page for location and additional information.

  • FULL MOON PADDLE
Time: Meet at 6:00 PM for 6:30 PM START. Distance 2 miles Estimated time: 2 hours + stops Leader: Hassan (mobile[masked]) Let's leisurely paddle around a few islands while enjoying the view of the full moon against the night sky and it's reflection on the water. We will paddle about 2 miles and stop at one of the islands for a half hour. This will be a great time to enjoy the view and a snack if you choose to bring one. You must have at least one light which can be seen from any direction or at least 2 lights in front and back of your kayaks. A strong light inside you boat (simple flashlight) is a great addition.
