This meetup group is provided by Marco Island Paddlers Association Inc.(MIPA) for scheduling paddles and activities for its members and for the community. Membership in this  meetup group is open to everyone who provides the requested background information, maintains safe practices on the water and abides by the rules of this meetup group.  All members of this meetup who attend paddle events must wear a PFD, take responsibility for their own safety, sign a MIPA waiver/release and comply with any rules or requirements set by the event host. A copy of the MIPA release can be accessed, read and downloaded from the files section of this group. The files section is found at the top heading bar under the drop down list titled More.

Membership in MIPA is not required to sign on to this meetup group or to participate in most of the paddles.  We do, however, encourage you to consider becoming a member of MIPA. 

Marco Island Paddling Association Inc. (MIPA), is organized exclusively for nonprofit public benefit and shall be to serve as a local forum for all paddlers, addressing their needs and promoting the benefits of kayaking and other paddle activities as lifetime recreational and healthful activities through:

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT - to increase the understanding and appreciation of kayaking and other paddle activities by developing a community of paddlers that: participate in group paddles, attend social activities, assist in community-sponsored events, and model healthful and environmentally-friendly paddling behavior.

SAFETY, EDUCATION, AND INSTRUCTION – to develop and implement safety education, and instruction programs designed to introduce, inform, and train paddlers of all skill levels in all aspects and areas of kayaking and other RECREATION AND ATHLETIC CHALLENGES – to develop and implement programs designed to foster cordiality while meeting the health and fitness needs of individuals or organizations engaged in both competitive and non-competitive
aspects of kayaking and other paddle activities.

CONSERVATION AND PUBLIC POLICY – to develop and implement programs designed to protect our natural environment, promote the low impact use of our natural resources, and promote protecting the rights of all paddlers to use and access our rivers, estuaries, mangrove and coastal waters.
