  • This will be a one way shuttle paddle. It is one of the MIPA 10 "essential" paddles.

Meet at the Turner River Canoe Launch on US 41 to offload. Please be at the launch area unloaded and ready to transport vehicles at 9:00am. You will drive to the take out on the Chokoloskee causeway and return to the launch by shuttle. We will paddle to the Chokoloskee to take out. Lunch will follow at a restaurant tba. The paddle is not terribly difficult but there is some open water river and bay toward the end of the paddle. Distance is about 10 mile. Turner River has the tightest Mangrove Tunnels that you probably will experience on the upper part of the paddle. Here is a track link from previous paddle.

We have done this shuttle before and it worked pretty good. If we had a couple of high capacity kayak trailers it would be easier to arrange. In any event, we will need volunteers to drive the group from the take out site back to the launch site. Also, we will need volunteers to take those drivers and their kayaks back to the launch site. With twenty people it can be confusing but if everyone will cooperate fully it will not be difficult. The after paddle lunch will be a Jonnies Blue Crab. 39395 Tamiami Trail E, Ochopee, FL 34141

It is fairly close to the launch area and an interesting place with good food. It is a little drive from the take out but close to the launch area making it workable for all of us since several people will be involved in retrieving the shuttle vehicles.

The map link above don't show the put in, so if you are not familiar it is 6 miles drive east of 29 on the north side of Tamiami trail.
