NOTE: THE VENUE FOR THIS DATE'S EVENT WAS FORMERLY THE DEDHAM WATER TRAIL. THE LOCATION OF THIS PADDLE HAS CHANGED!
Change of Plans
Because of some tough conditions in the Ditch, the half-mile upstream section of the Dedham Loop Water Trail on the Charles River, I am changing the location of this Saturday’s Worcester Paddling Group event.
I encountered these conditions when I paddled there a few weeks ago and because of the current water levels I suspect things are worse now than they were then. If you are thinking of doing the Loop on your own anyway and want more detail about conditions in the Ditch, please message me.
If you were signed up for the Dedham Loop paddle, your RSVP has been carried over to this new location. If you do NOT want to participate, then please change your RSVP.
The new venue for the paddle is the meadows section of the Charles River. We will put in at the Bridge Street access point between Sherborn and Dover, north of Medfield. We will paddle upstream (to the left) a couple hours or so and return downstream to our starting point. There are no bathroom facilities at the launch and I don’t know that there will be any landing possibilities during the paddle.
I have researched this stretch of the river but I have not paddled it before. If you have experience here and want to offer information please do so.
Access is where Farm Road/Bridge Street crosses the Charles River between Sherborn and Dover and north of Medfield. Below is a link to an interactive Google map of the location. https://goo.gl/maps/XNdgLNdZTHrJrPdG7
An address of 93 Bridge Street, Dover, MA, in your GPS should get you in the vicinity, probably a bit south. The launch is on the east side of the road and south side of the river. Parking may be tight, so be patient.
If you are running late or want to bail out the day of the trip, you MUST call or text to[masked].
MUST BRING: A whistle, a PFD, and ten feet of light line. Pack drinks/snacks to your liking.
