Everglades Day Festival Paint-Out and Show!

Feb 11, 2017 · 8:00 AM

This is a great opportunity for a day of painting at beautiful Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge and exhibiting our work!

Arthur R. Marshall
Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge
10216 Lee Road
Boynton Beach, FL 33473

Start Time:

Arrival between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM is recommended since they are expecting a large crowd. Please follow signs and proceed to off-site parking.  There you will be shown to a parking spot.  Watch for the small white van marked Volunteer/Exhibitor Van for a ride to the Refuge or if a shuttle bus is available, hop on that.

Parking and Transportation:

Park in the Solid Waste Authority parking lot 1/2 of a mile south of the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge on the opposite side of the road of the Refuge (State Road 7/441), then hop on a white shuttle van marked for Volunteers/Exhibitors which will bring you to the entrance. Or if the shuttle bus is available, you can ride it.  There you will get on a different shuttle looping through the entire Refuge and get off wherever you find your painting spot. Any artist who arrives at the Visitor Center as a result of having a Handicap Parking Permit can use the ADA van to reach other areas of the Refuge.

Finishing Time:

Please be done breaking down by 2:00 PM at the latest so we can move to the Visitor Center and be ready to set up inside the Theater as soon as the 2 PM speaker is finished.  Around 3 PM the jurying and awards ceremony will begin. The artists and their paintings will remain in the Theater until 4 PM and visitors will get a chance to see the work and meet the artists. At 4 PM the artists will break down and prepare to leave.

Deadlines for Exhibition:

Artists can finish their works at home and prepare them for hanging during the weekend of Feb 18-19. The show will be hung Sunday, Feb 19 and be on display (and available for purchase) until April 12 when the show will come down.

Additional Paintings:

For the exhibition from Feb 18 - April 8 we are allowed to bring in paintings which have been painted at a different time. All paintings must have been painted on the Refuge.

ALL PAINTINGS WINNING AN AWARD ON FEBRUARY 11 WILL HAVE TO BE BROUGHT BACK ON FEBRUARY 18 OR 19 AND STAY IN THE EXHIBITION!
