ABOUT THE BOOK:

It is 1939. Nazi Germany. The country is holding its breath. Death has never been busier, and will become busier still.

Liesel Meminger is a foster girl living outside of Munich, who scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can’t resist–books. With the help of her accordion-playing foster father, she learns to read and shares her stolen books with her neighbors during bombing raids as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement.

In superbly crafted writing that burns with intensity, award-winning author Markus Zusak, author of I Am the Messenger, has given us one of the most enduring stories of our time.

The movie is expected to be out on DVD in February as well.  We can arrange a viewing if anyone is interested.  Please reply with your interest in this meetup so I can try to set it up before hand so we can compare/contrast them.

Sorry Donna, my email inbox was overfull and I'm JUST widdling down to where I left off in late Feb. Hope you're feeling well now, thanks for keeping your germs to yourself!

We did pick a book, but for the life of me, I can't recall what it was!
I will have to ask the group because someone suggested it.
Please email me at [masked] if you need to get in touch, I get too much junk email at the other address that "real" emails get lost.

I emailed about childcare, but didn't get a response. Do we know if there will be childcare?

Email Margaret D. if you want someone to watch her while you're in the club meeting. Her email address should be in the post.
