This year my Mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. For me (and I believe my brothers) this diagnoses was particularly painful as my father had dementia the last four years of his life. I decided to do the 2012 Alzheimer's Walk as a way to do something in a situation where there is much that I cannot do. My goals are small, raise awareness and a bit of money to help those now suffering with this illness, like my Mother. My friends Gillian Cook and Keith Gilbert immediately asked to join me for the walk so now we are "Team Nancy." My fundraising goal was and is small - initially $250. Thanks to the generosity of people like all of you I've already surpassed my initial goal of $250 & am now hoping to raise $350. If making such a donation is not for you you are welcome to support "Team Nancy" in spirit or by walking with me, Gillian and Keith on Saturday October 27th. Below is some information from the Alzheimer's Association. I thank you for your consideration.
Alzheimer’s is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States today. To help end this epidemic, I’m participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, an event that raises funds and awareness to fight this devastating disease. Since 1989, walkers and donors have raised $389 million for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. I hope to raise at least $200 to help support this cause. I want to do my part – but I can’t do it without your help! You can donate by clicking the link below. The end of Alzheimer’s starts here – with a gift from you. Together, we can make a difference! A note from Keith: I've love for you to join me in supporting this cause for the reasons Nancy has stated above. I can speak for many of us when I say her support for our group has been invaluable since 2004! Let's help Nancy in this charitable cause! Un caro saluto -- Keith
