Have lived in Mumbai, India and Ankara, Turkey. Also speak Spanish and (some) Turkish.

What is your favorite Italian book, author, film, song, musician, food and/or city?

Il Gattopardo (book/film), Giorgio Bassani, Bologna (dipende), old Italian pop, mangio tutto

At what level do you speak Italian and do you speak other languages?

When soon tested will be about a 3/3 or 3+/3+ in State Department parlance - proficient, but not fluent (prone to speaking dialect!).

What kinds of events would you most enjoy?

Small group speaking; foreign affairs/policy; book/movie discussions, perhaps.


State Department Foreign Service Officer, transferring from Washington to Rome, Summer 2014. Both parents from Italy (Puglia, provincia di Foggia). Very keen to maintain and improve my Italian ahead of my move.
