What else would you like to tell our group about yourself?

While I'm not ethnically Italian, I embrace the history, culture, arts and language. I grew up near San Francisco, California, where there is a large Italian community in the North Beach area. I'm also building a lifestyle and career around Italian coffee and the caffe life.

What is your favorite Italian book, author, film, song, musician, food and/or city?

I am fond of Italian opera, specifically Puccini. I listen to classical music such as Vivaldi. I enjoy reading travel writing and essays that focus on Italy, especially early 20th century. I have an appreciation for Italian Architecture, renaissance and baroque periods. Italian Cinema would be Ladri di Biciclette and Il Postino. Songs and artists include hymns, Eh Cumpari, and operas sung by Pavorotti. Food would be lamb, fish, and pasta dishes; I follow Lidia Bastinach's, Lydia's Italy. I've traveled to Florence in 2006.

At what level do you speak Italian and do you speak other languages?

I speak basic Italian, beginner. At a slow pace I understand words, conversations, phrases. My challenge is is forming words and sentences in both starting a conversation and responding. I want to build my comfort level and bridge the gap to make the process second nature.

What kind of events would you most enjoy?
