DOH!!!! just got this E-mail.... hope you were able to get up there for a shot... probably another opportunity later this week when the rain finally stops. My lense is a 420mm... I think the seting was around 350mm for the downtown LA shot

Nice shot! I love downtown shots. Living in Bunker Hill 13th floor has opened a whole new world for subjects that I did not appreciate before. All types of structures and details. I like to get up on the 19th floor roof of my Apartment building and shoot surmise and sunsets against all that glass.

We should do a downtown group meeting and shoot the old bank district and its incredible detail on the architecture. Or just all the Artwork that is present.

Thanks, Frank

Hi John,

I plan on going out there this afternoon. Can you tell me what focal lengths would be best? I imagine some longer lenses? If you can text me at[masked], I'd appreciate it. If you don't have text messaging, you can call me or just use gizmo.

Thanks,
Jorge

In case you're wondering where the classic photo of downtown LA with Mt Baldy in the background is taken.

Downtown with Baldy in the background

It's taken from Kenneth Hahn Park in Culver City

Google Map to Kenneth Hahn Park

AND... Since the air will be cleared up after the rain this week... AND there will be snow on Baldy and the surrounding mountains, this should make for a VERY nice Photo-OP!!!

So, if on Saturday or Sunday when the "alleged rain" finally stops... it may be worth your while. I suggest ( since the sun rises in the east ) any time after12 noon would be best.

Oh... to see if it's cloudy or snowy at the 6,000 ft level.... here's the link to the Mt Wilson Cam:

Mt Wilson Tower-CAM

Enjoy!!!
