Walking Portland: SE Laurelhurst, Sunnyside, Richmond & Kerns

Details

REGISTRATION: Opens 4 weeks prior to event. (Moving this fabulous walk forward and will continue to review conditions in this neighborhood--especially around the park--in coming months. Currently heavily encamped with reported violence.)

DESCRIPTION: This is the perfect spring walk--through four iconic SE neighborhoods: Laurelhurst, Sunnyside, Richmond, and Buckman. With optional connectors to three of Portland's coolest shopping/noshing streets: Belmont, Clinton, Division and Hawthorne. Plus Laurelhurst, Sewallcrest and Colonel Summers parks along the route. And if we get lucky, the ducklings will have hatched.

DISTANCE: 6-7 miles.

PARKING: Free street parking in the neighborhood.

LAUNCH TIME: Please arrive by 9:30 a.m. for sign-in and intros. We'll head out at 10:00 a.m. sharp.

ATTIRE: Sturdy walking/running shoes, compact umbrella, and layered clothing appropriate for the weather. Plus, anything else you need to survive 3 hours stomping city sidewalks and reasonably well-maintained trails (water, energy bar, Chapstick, lightweight backpack, adventurous spirit, great sense of humor, etc.).

FITNESS LEVEL: Expect a brisk 3-mile-an-hour (20-minute mile) pace for this mostly flatland (sidewalks, trails) trek.

GUESTS: Yes, of course, you may bring a guest. However, all participants must be registered. Thank you!
