We as avid walkers we must pay homage to the Peak District National Park, This was the very first of it's kind. Back in 1951 it was created following the 1949 National Parks and Access to The Countryside Act to protect landscapes and provide public access for all of us to enjoy.

The designation was a major victory for campaigners, following the 1932 Mass Trespass on Kinder Scout, which aimed to secure the "freedom to roam" this in itself is now going into it's 94th year.

So, we do hope you will agree that Stanage Edge is a great walk to do in the Peak District National Park.

Length will be 9 miles long, steep inclines up onto a rocky escarpment , famous with it's climbers, it forms the border between the Peak District and Sheffield in South Yorkshire.

The highest point is High Neb at 458 metres above sea level.

We will be heading up onto Stanage from the lovey village of Hathersage which hosts superb views of the Derwent and Hope Valleys as well as Mam Tor and Kinder Scout.

You will notice that the landscape is sprinkled with old mill stones, both fully intact and broken ones, they have been discarded from a once flourishing industry in the 1860's

The Disclaimer!
We are a group of like-minded adults who share the same interest, the great outdoors.
Our leaders/event hosts are volunteers, they're there to guide groups on walks in the countryside, they're not responsible for each and every participant other than themselves.
It is expected that all participants to be fully responsible for themselves and their own safety, we do not employ first aiders or qualified walk leaders. Participants are also expected to attend every walk with suitable clothing, footwear and any other equipment, that includes waterproofs for wet weather and walking poles if you need them regularly. Enough food and drink for the day is also required.
