Each year hundreds of people from our community gather at Congressman Bobby Scott's Labor Day picnic. Many of our Democratic political representatives attend from across the state and speak, and are also available during the picnic to talk with their constituents and the press. Congressman Scott always makes himself available to talk with people, although sometimes the press swarms other representatives (like Tim Kaine) and it's harder to reach them. But don't let that stop you from trying! Don't let special interests be the only voices your political representatives hear! Come out and meet them in person, and tell them about YOUR concerns!

Congressman Scott has given excellent representation to his district, Virginia, and Democrats in general for many years. He is known for good budgeting skills, and Democrats usually adopt his annual budget. Unlike Paul Ryan's budget that victimizes seniors and working class people, Congressman Scott produces a budget that is both RESPONSIBLE and HUMANE. (Humanity seems to be forgotten in Washington these days.) He was also one of the few Congressmen who voted AGAINST the Iraq War originally, and so he never helped saddle us with that war debt or put our military in harm's way for questionable reasons. He also resisted other draconian legislation promoted by the Bush administration, such as the "PATRIOT" Act that attacked our civil liberties. You'll find Congressman Scott to be very alert and knowledgeable, and he always makes time to talk with "regular people."

The picnic is held in the large waterfront backyard of the Shore Drive address on the invitation. As you approach the street, you'll notice parking attendants who will guide you to side streets where you can park. There is no admission charge and refreshments are free -- all you have to do is get directions from maps.google.com or mapquest.com and find your way.

Come out and meet other Democrats, thank Bobby Scott for his great service to Hampton Roads, and talk to your political representatives about issues that matter to you!
