Stoic Founders Series: Epictetus Session 2: The Handbook, or Enchiridion
Details
Are you interested in learning more about Stoicism and Philosophy? Do you enjoy discussing big ideas?
Join Philadelphia Stoa for an exploration and discussion of the works of Epictetus. The series will include an examination of the Discourses, Fragments and the Handbook. We will be working from a variety of sources, but group members are encouraged to purchase Epictetus: The Complete Works, edited by Robin Waterfield. Participants of all levels of experience are welcome and encouraged to join.
In our second session, we will cover the Handbook of Epictetus, otherwise known as the Enchiridion. This will include a short presentation, an exploration of selected writings, and group discussion. In preparation for our meeting, members are asked to read pg. 45-66 in the Waterfield text. Optional lunch will follow discussion.
