Lots of pictures from last time here: http://www.meetup.com/phillyhikes/photos/12429302/ (thanks Denise (http://www.meetup.com/phillyhikes/members/12902304/))
This is based on some of my earliest events as Organizer. Mugshots (http://www.mugshotscoffeehouse.com/ordereze/splash.html) has moved a bit east, extending our walk by 5 minutes at each end. East Fairmount Park is a treasure trove of historical, artistic, natural and man-made features, and we will be focusing on the south end of Mansion Row (most notably Lemon Hill), checking out the hiking trails in Glendinning Rock Garden just north of Girard Avenue, and finishing up with a tour of the Fairmount Waterworks Interpretive Center (http://www.fairmountwaterworks.com/) (There is a 17-minute movie that runs every half-hour). Fare (http://farerestaurant.com/) is a possibility for an after-walk meal/drink (hope to get back in good time for their brunch).
It'll take us a half hour to get to Lemon Hill Mansion, another 1/2-hour to get to Glendinning (noon), we'll spend about 40 minutes in Glendinning (so leaving there by 12:40 or so), maybe a half-hour to get to the Water Works, 45 minutes at the Waterworks, 15+ minutes to get back near our starting point, so estimated end time is around 2pm. I need to be back to West Philly by 4pm, so we may sit down for a bit at a local restaurant before going our separate ways.
