Compare and Contrast Ancient Eastern & Western Philosophies

From: Gui

This week some of us are leaving Bertrand Russell's summary of the Ancient Philosophers as we finish Book 1, and in two weeks we will start Book 2, the Christian Philosophers.

I listened to a lecture this week on the Eastern Ancient Philosophers, Confucius, Lao Tzu, and Buddha. Having the Western Ancients firmly in place, I was amazed at both the similarities and differences, and thought it would be fun to spend an evening comparing and contrasting the Ancient Western and Eastern overviews before beginning the Christian influences on Philosophy.

Join us Wednesday, April 18, 2012, 7:00 PM

I'll put together a short reading list, enough so we can have a lively discussion.  Since our meeting space is limited to 8 seats, those who have been participating in our bi-weekly meetings will have initial RSVP priority.
