My Advice is...

WE ARE MEETING AT A DIFFERENT PLACE THIS WEEK! SEE BELOW!!!

Someone gave me this topic, but I've lost track of who that was!

What have you learned in life so far?

There's no shortage of advice in life. You can find it on the internet, from family, friends, co-workers, therapists, even the person in the check-out line. Advice is great, and we all want to be open to other points of view and to grow as people, but when is enough enough? Does the plenitude of free advice cause us to over-think issues? Does it make us neurotic? Do you avoid receiving the advice of others or seek it? Do you avoid giving advice to others or welcome the opportunity? Do some people push their points of view on you to the point where it annoys you?

If you could give advice to your younger self, what would it be?

As some of you know, it costs me about $144 each year to run this meetup. If you have the resources and the inclination, a small contribution ($5-$10) each year would help defray this cost. Think of this as my asking you to give me a quarter at each meeting!

You can find a map of the Champlain Campus by clicking here. Up until this week, we were meeting in the Library, building 34 on the map. This week ONLY we will be meeting at building 25, the Hauke Family Campus Center, in room 103, the Boardroom. Building 25 is a little to the left (west) and above (north) of building34.

You may find parking on Maple between Summit and South Union, or on Willard between Main and Cliff. I understand that Champlain College does not enforce their permit-only parking in their parking lots on the weekends.

A good discussion, but the topic "Advice" was a little vague.

I won't be making it today. Please let one of the waitlist people know. As much as advice/feedback/discernment is part of my life and I really wanted to hear what was going to be said, I've got something that is less of theoretical nature than needs tending to in the afternoon.

Advice carries with it that there is a problem that is wanting to be sovled.
    Different from feedback.

Good point, Kraye- I like the idea of feedback much better, even if there is a 'problem.'

Is the meeting in the standard place, third floor of the library?

No. Please read the meeting details carefully.

Note that the Hauke Campus Center, Champlain College is at 375 Maple Street, Burlington, VT, 05401. If you click on the map link above, it shows a location out at Williston!

When I click on the map link that Meetup provided automatically, I see a map of all of the Burlington area, with some links along the left side. When I click on the Hauke link, I am taken to the correct location. The map that I provided a link to, in the description of the event, should be correct. I'm sure that all of us will be wandering around lost for the first 10 minutes.

Sorry to miss this one. I'd send my younger self, but you probably wouldn't want that.

I might be a few minutes late due to a cross country skiing event.
