Wow - that was an awesome post - thank you. In the Sunday book group we will be looking into the concept of "soul", more from a "therapy" standpoint and not biological, but whether it is proven or not, it is the experience of it for some people that makes it "real". That of course opens up the door to what is really "real" anyway. If it feels "real" is that enough? I like your last paragraph on Free Will, good point.
