Your organization or cause -- what are you passionate about?

I am the Community Outreach & Advocacy Specialist at MANNA, an established non-profit that provides medically-appropriate meals and nutrition counseling to neighbors at acute nutritional risk from critical illness. I am working on the development of an evidence-based argument to advocate for insurance reimbursement of MANNA’s ‘Food is Medicine’ model as the necessary, sustainable funding source to allow scalability and expansion of services. I have just recently transitioned to the Managing Director of The Hunger Network, a soon to be fiscally sponsored social enterprise (fingers crossed) that is working on a pilot program in Germantown to reduce food insecurity at the community level through dynamic, city-wide interorganizational collaboration.

Have you used technology for social change? If not, do you have plans/ideas/dreams about how you want to use it?

Looking forward to experimenting.

What cool examples of technology for social change have you encountered?

Healthy Platforms is a mobile ready website designed to help people with serious or chronic illness, including cancer, hypertension, etc. to track their symptoms, medication adherence, and provide updates to their caretakers and family with the click of a button. Users can also print out a report to bring to their health care visits for more individualized care. Pretty interesting!

I am interested in networking and collaborating with other like-minded individuals who believe that when people work together anything is possible.
